Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) supports a range of wound management projects and activities across the Gold Coast region to support workforce capability building while improving outcomes for people living with chronic and complex wounds.
GCPHN fund a dedicated wound clinic led by a wound specialist GP and his team of highly trained nurses. The Chronic and Complex Wound Clinic support local general practitioners and their patients to improve health outcomes with people that have chronic, complex, recurrent, and debilitating wounds that seriously impact on their quality of life.

Primary Care Nurses
The Chronic Disease Wound Management Program aims to offer training and education that will increase confidence, knowledge and skills of nurses responsible for the care and management of patients living with chronic and/or complex wounds in the general practice or residential aged care settings.
Participants attend workshop style education sessions with a focus on wound assessment and management of patients with a chronic or complex wound modelled on the Australian Wound Management Association (AWMA) wound management module framework. Practical based workshops on compression therapy and wound dressings and products are offered to compliment the education sessions.
General Practitioners
GPs can participate in a Chronic Disease Wound Management CPD Activity which includes information on the impact of wounds, the wound healing process, patient and wound assessment, aetiology of wounds, wound bed preparation, management of the Diabetic foot and managing common acute wounds. The workshop also includes interactive compression therapy and wound dressing workshops.
