Patients on the Gold Coast can now access a home detox service to safely and discreetly withdraw from alcohol or cannabis.
Addiction In-home Recovery (AIR Detox) was set up by Dr Hok Yee Siu, a GP with a special interest in Addiction Medicine. He created a seven-day medicated detox and 12-month aftercare program to manage withdrawal at home.
When a patient seeks help for an addiction it is crucial to act quickly to capitalise on their motivation to change. Dr Siu will provide daily in-home visits to manage the withdrawal. There are no waitlists for our service and our patients have access to 24/7 medical support during their detox. We also provide 12 months of aftercare support and regular check-in appointments to help them achieve their long-term recovery goals.
We strongly encourage our patients to have an ongoing therapeutic relationship with their GP and existing healthcare team. We provide you with a detailed discharge summary after their detox with all the information you need to create the relevant chronic disease management plan and mental health care plan. We also write to you after each aftercare appointment, so you have a full picture of their recovery and recommendations for their ongoing care.

We can treat patients who drink up to 40 units of alcohol a day and those who have had previous withdrawal seizures. Before a patient is accepted onto our program, we conduct a full clinical assessment at the patient’s home to ensure they are medically fit for a home detox.

The home detox costs $3,300, with their initial assessment and aftercare appointments bulk billed. We also offer monthly payment plans to help spread the cost, working out at less than the daily cost of the drug.
